✨ “No More Hiding Your Stretch Marks” — What Actually Helps?
Stretch marks are very common, harmless scars that form when the skin stretches or shrinks relatively quickly—for example during pregnancy, puberty or significant weight changes. They often become lighter and less noticeable naturally over time.
The idea that one homemade remedy can completely erase them is misleading. Most creams and oils have little evidence for removing established stretch marks.
🌿 A gentle daily routine
If your goal is to make the skin look and feel smoother, you can:
- Apply a plain, fragrance-free moisturizer daily to keep the skin hydrated.
- Avoid aggressive scrubbing, lemon juice, baking soda or other irritating DIY treatments.
- Protect exposed skin from excessive sun, which can make differences in skin color more noticeable.
- Give it time—stretch marks commonly fade and become less conspicuous naturally.
What treatments have some evidence?
For new stretch marks, prescription tretinoin (a retinoid) may improve their appearance in some people. Treatments such as laser therapy and microdermabrasion can also make stretch marks less noticeable, although they don’t completely remove them.
⚠️ Do not use topical retinoids during pregnancy. They may harm the developing baby.
❤️ One important point
You don’t need to hide stretch marks. They are a normal variation in skin and aren’t a sign that something is wrong with you.
Bottom line: No kitchen remedy can reliably erase stretch marks. A moisturizer can improve the feel and appearance of the skin, while dermatologist-supervised treatments may provide more noticeable fading.
