A Simple Trick to Clean Your Oven Door Glass: Sparkling Results Without Harsh Chemicals

🧽 A Simple Way to Clean Oven Door Glass Without Harsh Chemicals

You don’t need expensive specialty cleaners to remove everyday grease and baked-on residue from oven glass. A simple baking-soda paste can work well.

What you’ll need

  • ½ cup baking soda
  • A little water
  • Soft sponge or microfiber cloth
  • Small bowl
  • Clean damp cloth

Step-by-step

  1. Make sure the oven is completely cool. Remove any loose crumbs from the glass.
  2. Mix baking soda with a small amount of water until you have a thick, spreadable paste.
  3. Spread the paste over the glass, concentrating on greasy or baked-on areas. Avoid getting it into vents, seals, or openings.
  4. Let it sit for 15–30 minutes. For stubborn buildup, you can leave it longer.
  5. Gently wipe and scrub with a non-abrasive sponge or microfiber cloth.
  6. Remove all residue with a clean, damp cloth, rinsing the cloth as needed.
  7. Dry and polish the glass with a clean microfiber towel.

✨ For stubborn spots: A plastic scraper can sometimes help loosen hardened residue. Use it gently and follow your oven manufacturer’s instructions to avoid scratching the glass.

⚠️ One important caution

Avoid mixing cleaning products—especially bleach, ammonia, or commercial oven cleaners—unless the manufacturer specifically says they’re compatible. Also check your oven’s manual before using any homemade cleaner, since some models have special coatings or cleaning requirements.

The biggest trick is consistency: wiping up spills once the oven has cooled can prevent them from becoming stubborn, baked-on deposits.
