Signs of vitamin B12 deficiency are ignored

1. 😴 Constant tiredness or weakness

Feeling unusually tired, weak, or lacking energy can occur when B12 deficiency causes anemia.

2. 🫳 Tingling or numbness

Pins and needles, burning, or numbness in the hands and feet can be an important neurological sign. These symptoms can occur even when anemia is absent.

B12 deficiency can affect the nervous system and may lead to difficulty walking, poor coordination, or balance problems.

Who Is More at Risk?

B12 deficiency isn’t only a problem for people who don’t eat meat. Risk can increase with a strict vegan diet, problems absorbing B12, certain gastrointestinal conditions or surgeries, pernicious anemia, and prolonged use of some medicines such as metformin or proton-pump inhibitors.
