7 Signs of a Mini-Stroke in Older Adults You Should Never Ignore
A transient ischemic attack (TIA) is sometimes called a “mini-stroke.” Its symptoms can disappear quickly, but a TIA is still a medical emergency and may warn of a future stroke.
1. Sudden Face Drooping
One side of the face may suddenly become weak or numb.
2. Sudden Arm or Leg Weakness
Weakness or numbness, especially on one side of the body, is a major warning sign.
3. Sudden Speech Problems
The person may suddenly slur words, have difficulty speaking, or struggle to understand others.
4. Sudden Vision Changes
Blurred, double, or lost vision in one or both eyes can occur.
5. Sudden Dizziness or Loss of Balance
Unexpected dizziness, difficulty walking, or poor coordination can be a warning sign.
6. Sudden Confusion
A person may suddenly seem confused or have difficulty understanding or communicating.

A sudden, severe headache with no known cause can be a stroke warning sign.
