Suffering from poor circulation? Here’s how to fix it in just 20 minutes!

Poor Circulation? What You Can Do in 20 Minutes

If your legs often feel heavy, tired, numb, or uncomfortable, you may wonder if poor circulation is the cause. There isn’t a 20-minute trick that permanently fixes circulation, but gentle movement can temporarily improve blood flow and, when done regularly, can improve walking ability in people with certain circulation problems such as peripheral artery disease (PAD).

Try a Simple 20-Minute Routine

1. Walk for 10 minutes
Walk at a comfortable pace. If you’re not used to exercise, start slowly and build up gradually.

2. Move your ankles for 2–3 minutes
While sitting, gently point and flex your feet and make slow ankle circles.

3. Do gentle leg movements for 2–3 minutes
Try seated knee extensions or gentle marching in place.

4. Finish with 5 minutes of easy walking or movement
Keep the intensity comfortable and stop if you feel unwell.

If You Have Leg Pain While Walking

Pain, cramping, aching, or unusual fatigue that repeatedly appears when walking and improves with rest can be a sign of peripheral artery disease (PAD). It shouldn’t simply be dismissed as normal aging.

For people with diagnosed PAD, structured walking programs can improve walking ability. Exercise is usually performed in repeated periods of walking and rest and is best discussed with a healthcare professional.

Don’t Ignore These Warning Signs

Get medical attention promptly if you develop a foot or leg wound that doesn’t heal, severe or persistent leg pain, a suddenly cold or discolored foot, or significant changes in one leg. These can indicate a more serious circulation problem.

Bottom line: Twenty minutes of gentle movement can be a useful start, but it isn’t a cure for poor circulation. If circulation problems are persistent, finding the underlying cause is much more important than relying on a quick home remedy.
