“Put 2 drops in your ear and hear like before” — is that true?
Not generally. There is no two-drop remedy that can restore hearing loss regardless of its cause.
The claim may be based on a real situation: earwax buildup can temporarily reduce hearing, and certain ear drops can soften the wax. NHS guidance, for example, says 2–3 drops of olive or almond oil can be used several times a day for a few days when impacted earwax is suspected. The wax may then work its way out and hearing can improve.

But ear drops won’t restore hearing caused by age-related hearing loss, nerve damage, prolonged loud-noise exposure, an inner-ear disorder, or many other conditions. Hearing loss has numerous possible causes and needs assessment when the cause isn’t obvious.

⚠️ Don’t put just anything in your ear
Avoid homemade mixtures, essential oils, peroxide mixtures, or unidentified “2-drop” remedies. Do not use ear drops if you have a known or suspected perforated eardrum, and seek professional advice if you have ear pain, discharge, bleeding, or dizziness.

Most important: if hearing loss is sudden, particularly in one ear, seek urgent medical care rather than trying drops at home. Sudden hearing loss can require prompt treatment.
