Normal blood pressure by age
For adults, there isn’t a separate “normal” blood-pressure number for each age. The current 2025 AHA/ACC guideline defines normal adult blood pressure as less than 120/80 mmHg, including in older adults. Individual treatment goals can differ depending on health conditions.

A single reading isn’t enough to diagnose hypertension. It’s better to take properly measured readings on multiple occasions and discuss persistent elevations with a healthcare professional.

🚨 Very high blood pressure
A reading over 180/120 mmHg is severely high. If it occurs with chest pain, shortness of breath, weakness/numbness, vision changes, severe headache, or difficulty speaking, seek emergency medical care immediately.

If you give me your age and your blood-pressure reading (for example, 65 years old — 148/92), I can tell you what that specific reading means.
