Do this and your geraniums will be able to bloom almost continuously for over a year.

That claim is a bit exaggerated, but geraniums (Pelargonium) can indeed bloom for a very long time if you care for them correctly.

If you want them to keep flowering almost continuously, here’s what actually works:

1. Give them plenty of sunlight
Geraniums need at least 5–6 hours of direct sun daily. Without enough light, they grow leaves but stop blooming.

2. Deadhead regularly
Remove faded flowers as soon as they wilt. This forces the plant to produce new buds instead of making seeds.

3. Don’t overwater
Let the top soil dry slightly before watering again. Too much water = lots of leaves, fewer flowers, and possible root rot.

4. Use light feeding (not heavy fertilizer)
A fertilizer higher in potassium (like a “bloom” fertilizer) every 2–4 weeks during growing season helps continuous flowering. Too much nitrogen = leafy plant, fewer blooms.

5. Keep them slightly root-bound
Geraniums actually flower better when their roots are a bit tight in the pot. Oversized pots can reduce blooming.

6. Warm conditions + airflow
They like warmth but also good air circulation to stay healthy and keep producing flowers.

7. Prune lightly
Trim leggy stems every few weeks to encourage branching and new flower growth.

Bottom line

They won’t literally bloom nonstop for a year without breaks, but with good light, deadheading, and proper feeding, they can flower for many months with only short pauses.

If you want, tell me whether yours are in pots or ground—I can tailor the care more precisely.
