Garbage Bread is a savory stuffed bread loaf made by filling pizza dough with meats, cheese, and vegetables, then rolling and baking it until golden. Think of it as a “loaded pizza roll” baked into a loaf.
Easy Garbage Bread Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
- 250–300 g ground beef or sausage
- 1 small onion (chopped)
- 1/2 cup bell peppers (optional)
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup cheddar cheese (optional)
- 2–3 tbsp pizza sauce or ketchup
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- Salt & pepper to taste
- 1 egg (for brushing, optional)
Instructions
1. Cook the filling
- Brown the meat in a pan
- Add onion, peppers, salt, pepper, and seasoning
- Cook until everything is soft and no moisture remains
- Let it cool slightly
2. Roll the dough
- Roll pizza dough into a rectangle
- Spread pizza sauce lightly on top
3. Add filling
- Layer meat mixture evenly
- Add cheese on top
4. Roll and seal
- Roll tightly like a log
- Pinch edges to seal
5. Bake
- Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F)
- Place seam-side down on baking tray
- Brush with egg wash (optional for shine)
- Bake 25–35 minutes until golden brown
6. Serve
- Let it rest 5–10 minutes before slicing
- Serve with marinara or garlic sauce
