My Nana’s Hack to Make Dusty Blinds Sparkle in 2 Minutes ✨

A simple trick that many people use is to dust blinds with a dryer sheet. It’s quick, inexpensive, and helps remove dust while leaving behind a light anti-static effect that may slow down future dust buildup.

What you need:

  • 1 clean microfiber cloth or a dryer sheet
  • A pair of kitchen tongs (optional)
  • Warm water (optional for extra dirty blinds)

The quick method:

  1. Close the blinds so the slats are facing one direction.
  2. Run a dry microfiber cloth or dryer sheet along each slat.
  3. Flip the blinds the other way and repeat.
  4. For stubborn grime:
    • Dampen a microfiber cloth with warm water.
    • Wipe each slat, then dry with a clean cloth.

The “no bending over” trick:

Wrap a microfiber cloth around both sides of a pair of kitchen tongs and secure it with rubber bands. Slide the tongs over each blind slat to clean both sides at once.

Tips to keep blinds cleaner longer:

✅ Dust weekly with a microfiber cloth
✅ Avoid using too much water on wood blinds (moisture can warp them)
✅ Vacuum with a brush attachment for heavy dust buildup
✅ Clean from top to bottom so dust doesn’t fall onto already-clean areas
