“Put 4 drops in your ear and you will hear like new again!

That’s a classic scam-style health claim. “Put 4 drops in your ear and hear like new again” is not a medically reliable statement, and in many cases it can be dangerous depending on what’s being used.

What this kind of claim usually hides

These ads often refer to:

  • “Ear detox” drops
  • Oils (olive oil, garlic oil, herbal mixes)
  • Peroxide or acidic solutions
  • Unknown “natural formulas”

None of these can magically restore hearing.

When hearing loss actually improves

Some hearing problems are reversible—but only in specific cases:

  • Earwax blockage → can be safely treated with proper medical ear drops or removal
  • Ear infection or inflammation → needs proper medication
  • Fluid in the ear → sometimes resolves with treatment
  • Sudden hearing loss (rare emergency) → needs urgent medical care

But none of these are fixed by a universal “4 drops” trick.

What’s risky about these claims

Putting random liquids in the ear can:

  • Irritate or burn the ear canal
  • Push wax deeper and worsen blockage
  • Damage the eardrum if the substance is unsafe
  • Delay real treatment for hearing loss

Bottom line

There is no single drop solution that restores hearing “like new” for everyone. Hearing loss has different causes, and treatment depends entirely on what’s actually wrong.
