Rocky Mountain Oysters (Breaded Bull Testicle Recipe)
Ingredients
- 2 lb beef or bull testicles, cleaned and peeled
- 1 cup flour
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (seasoned or plain)
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp paprika (optional)
- Oil, for frying
- Lemon wedges and dipping sauce (optional)
Preparation
- Clean the testicles
- Rinse well under cold water.
- Remove the tough outer membrane using a sharp knife.
- Slice into ¼–½ inch thick rounds.
- Tenderize
- Place slices in lightly salted water and simmer for about 10–15 minutes.
- Drain and pat dry.
- Bread the slices
- Season flour with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
- Coat each slice in flour, then egg, then breadcrumbs.
- Fry
- Heat oil to about 350°F (175°C).
- Fry for 2–4 minutes per side until golden and crisp.
- Drain on paper towels.
- Serve
- Serve hot with lemon wedges, ranch dressing, cocktail sauce, or a spicy dipping sauce.
Tip: The key step is removing the outer membrane completely; leaving it on can make the texture chewy.
