Scratches on glasses: don’t waste your money: apply a little and it will disappear immediately. It’s all in the first comment.

Scratched Glasses? Be Careful With “Instant Fixes”

Claims that a household substance can make scratches on eyeglasses “disappear immediately” are usually misleading. There isn’t a safe home remedy that reliably removes genuine scratches from modern prescription lenses.

What you can safely do
Rinse the lenses with lukewarm water to remove dust.
Use a small amount of mild dish soap and clean gently with your fingertips.
Rinse and dry with a clean microfiber lens cloth.
Keep lenses in a protective case when you’re not wearing them.
🚫 Don’t try these popular hacks

Avoid rubbing lenses with toothpaste, baking soda, abrasive powders, glass polish, car polish, or sandpaper. These can damage anti-reflective, UV, or other lens coatings and may make the optical surface worse.

If a scratch is actually in the lens, cleaning can make it look clearer but cannot remove the scratch. For significant scratches—especially if they interfere with vision—an optician can determine whether replacing the lens is the appropriate solution.

Bottom line: If a post promises that “apply a little of this and the scratch disappears immediately,” be skeptical. With prescription glasses, trying to polish away a scratch can cost you more than simply replacing the damaged lens.
