What’s the Small Round Hole on Your Nail Clipper For?

The small round hole on a nail clipper has a few possible purposes, depending on the design:

  1. Keychain or storage hole
    • The most common use is to attach the nail clipper to a key ring, chain, or small hook so it’s easier to carry and less likely to get lost.
  2. Manufacturing and assembly
    • The hole can also be part of how the clipper’s metal pieces are formed, aligned, or connected during production.
  3. Occasionally a tool feature
    • On some designs, the hole may help with opening small loops or attaching accessories, but it is not a universal “hidden tool” for cutting wire or other tasks.

A lot of viral posts claim the hole has a special function (like holding nails while cutting or cleaning under nails), but for most standard nail clippers, it’s simply a hanging/storage feature.
