Christmas Chaos Cake 🎄🍰A festive “everything-in-it” cake packed with holiday flavours—chocolate, dried fruit, nuts, and colourful decorations. It’s a fun, messy, delicious dessert for Christmas gatherings.
Ingredients (Serves 10–12)
Cake
- 250 g plain flour
- 200 g sugar
- 200 g butter, softened
- 4 large eggs
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ tsp salt
- 100 ml milk
Christmas Mix-Ins
- 100 g chocolate chips or chopped chocolate
- 100 g dried cranberries or raisins
- 75 g chopped nuts (optional)
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- ½ tsp mixed spice
- 50 g festive sprinkles (optional)
Topping
- 200 g icing sugar
- 2–3 tbsp milk or cream
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Sprinkles, crushed sweets, chocolate pieces, or festive decorations
Method
- Prepare the oven
- Heat oven to 180°C (160°C fan).
- Grease and line a cake tin.
- Make the batter
- Beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well.
- Stir in vanilla.
- Fold in flour, baking powder, salt, and spices.
- Add milk to loosen the mixture.
- Add the “chaos”
- Fold in chocolate chips, dried fruit, nuts, and sprinkles.
- Bake
- Pour into the tin.
- Bake for 35–45 minutes, until a skewer inserted in the centre comes out clean.
- Decorate
- Cool completely.
- Mix icing sugar with milk and vanilla to make a thick glaze.
- Drizzle over the cake and decorate generously.
