Older Adults: A Simple 3-Minute Routine for Wrinkled Skin
There isn’t a proven 3-minute treatment that can erase wrinkles, but a short daily routine can help keep mature skin hydrated and protect it from further sun damage.
☀️ Morning — about 3 minutes
- Gently cleanse — Use lukewarm water and a mild, fragrance-free cleanser. Avoid harsh scrubbing.
- Moisturize — Apply a moisturizer while the skin is slightly damp. Ingredients such as ceramides, glycerin, or hyaluronic acid can help improve hydration and make fine lines look less noticeable.
- Use sunscreen — Apply a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher to exposed skin every morning. Sun protection is one of the most important steps for preventing premature skin aging. (aad.org)
🌙 At night
Cleanse gently and moisturize again. If appropriate for your skin, a dermatologist may recommend a retinoid/retinol, which can improve fine lines and wrinkles over time—but it isn’t an instant treatment and can cause irritation if introduced too quickly. (aad.org)
⚠️ A realistic expectation
Creams can’t permanently remove deep wrinkles in three minutes. Consistent sun protection and moisturizing can make the biggest everyday difference, while prescription treatments or dermatological procedures may provide more noticeable improvement.
If an older adult develops a new, changing, bleeding, or non-healing spot on the skin, it should be examined by a healthcare professional rather than treated as an ordinary wrinkle.
