If you mean warning signs that may indicate a serious heart problem, these are important ones to know:
Chest pressure, squeezing, or pain — especially if it spreads to the arm, shoulder, back, neck, or jaw.
Shortness of breath — with exertion or even while resting.
Sudden or unexplained sweating — particularly with chest discomfort or nausea.
Fainting or near-fainting — especially during exercise or alongside palpitations.
Rapid, irregular, or pounding heartbeat — particularly when accompanied by dizziness, chest pain, or breathlessness.
Unusual or extreme fatigue — especially if it’s new, persistent, or disproportionate to your activity.
Swelling in the legs, ankles, or feet — particularly when accompanied by breathlessness or rapid weight gain.
Call emergency services immediately if you have chest pressure/pain lasting more than a few minutes, severe difficulty breathing, fainting, or symptoms suggestive of a heart attack. Don’t drive yourself.
These symptoms can have causes other than heart disease, but new, severe, or worsening symptoms should not be ignored.
