Baking soda removes grease from all these areas—the only way to do it is to prepare it this way!

That statement is another exaggeration. Baking soda is useful, but it’s not the only or universally best way to remove grease from every surface.

What it does do well is help loosen and absorb grease so it’s easier to wipe off—not magically erase it everywhere.

🧼 What baking soda actually does

Sodium bicarbonate works because it is:

  • mildly abrasive (helps scrub off grime)
  • slightly alkaline (helps break down greasy acids)
  • odor-neutralizing

But it usually works best with water, soap, or mild heat, not alone.

🧽 Effective ways to use it on grease

1. Baking soda paste (best general method)

  • Mix baking soda + a little water
  • Apply to greasy stove, pans, or oven spots
  • Let sit 10–20 minutes
  • Scrub with sponge

Good for: kitchen surfaces, oven doors, stovetops

2. Baking soda + dish soap (stronger combo)

  • Add a few drops of dish soap
  • Improves grease cutting significantly

Good for: pans, sinks, greasy tiles

3. Hot water soak (for cookware)

  • Add baking soda to hot water
  • Soak greasy items
  • Wipes off easier afterward

Good for: pots, trays

⚠️ What it does NOT do

  • Doesn’t instantly dissolve heavy baked-on grease alone
  • Not effective as a spray “miracle cleaner” without scrubbing
  • Not strong enough for industrial grease buildup by itself

🧠 Bottom line

Sodium bicarbonate is a helpful grease softener and scrub aid, not a standalone “only way” solution.

If you want, I can show you:

  • a powerful degreaser recipe for ovens and stovetops
  • or a “no-scrub” method for stubborn burnt grease
  • or safe alternatives for different surfaces (wood, steel, tiles)
