Crispy Pork Belly Bites are a rich, crunchy appetizer or main dish made by roasting or air-frying pork belly until the outside is crisp and the inside is tender.
Crispy Pork Belly Bites
Ingredients
- 1 kg pork belly, cut into bite-size cubes
- 1 tbsp oil
- 1 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp onion powder
- 1 tbsp soy sauce (optional)
- 1 tsp baking powder (helps crisp the skin)
Optional glaze
- 2 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp chili sauce or hot sauce
- 1 tsp minced garlic
Instructions
- Pat the pork belly pieces dry with paper towels.
- Toss with salt, spices, oil, and baking powder until evenly coated.
- Let them sit for 30 minutes (or refrigerate uncovered for a few hours for extra crispiness).
- Cook:
- Air fryer: 190°C (375°F) for about 25–35 minutes, shaking halfway through.
- Oven: Roast at 200°C (400°F) for 35–45 minutes until golden and crispy.
- If using the glaze, toss the cooked pork belly bites with it and return to heat for 3–5 minutes to caramelize.
- Serve hot with a dipping sauce, rice, or salad.
Tip: The key to crispy pork belly is removing excess moisture before cooking and giving the fat enough time to render and crisp.
