🚿 How often should you really shower?
There isn’t one perfect schedule for everyone. For many healthy adults, showering several times a week can be sufficient, while daily showers may be appropriate if you sweat heavily, exercise, work in a dirty environment, or simply prefer it.

The bigger issue is how you shower:
Keep showers around 5–10 minutes.
Use warm/lukewarm rather than hot water.
Use a gentle, fragrance-free cleanser, concentrating on areas such as the armpits and groin rather than aggressively soaping the entire body.

Don’t scrub vigorously with rough sponges or brushes.
Moisturize immediately afterward, while your skin is still slightly damp.

👵 Especially after 60
Skin generally becomes thinner and drier with age, so long, hot showers can remove protective oils and worsen itching or dryness. Dermatologists specifically recommend short, warm showers and moisturizing afterward for people in their 60s and 70s.

Bottom line: Daily showering isn’t automatically harmful, but long, hot showers with lots of soap can be hard on your skin. Your activity level, climate, sweating, skin condition, and personal preference should determine how often you wash.
