Recipe

My mother-in-law made this for every wedding party from 1975 to 2010. Only 3 ingredients and people still ask for the recipe.

That description is a common social media hook, but there isn’t one definitive recipe it refers to. One of the most popular “3-ingredient wedding party” recipes is this classic:

3-Ingredient Fruit Dip

Ingredients

  • 1 package (8 oz / 225 g) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 jar (7 oz / 198 g) marshmallow creme
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Beat the cream cheese until smooth.
  2. Add the marshmallow creme and mix until well combined.
  3. Stir in the vanilla.
  4. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Serve with

  • Strawberries
  • Apple slices
  • Grapes
  • Pineapple chunks
  • Melon
  • Graham crackers or pretzels

If this isn’t the recipe you were looking for, tell me whether it was an appetizer, dessert, punch, salad, or main dish, and I can help identify the classic 3-ingredient recipe.
