“Mix 2 Things With Vaseline to Erase Wrinkles” — Does It Work?
This is another viral beauty claim that overpromises what a home remedy can do. Vaseline (petroleum jelly) is an excellent moisturizer and can temporarily make dry skin and fine lines look less noticeable by trapping moisture in the skin. But it cannot permanently erase wrinkles.
What can you safely do?
A simple nighttime routine is:
- Wash your face gently.
- Apply a moisturizer to slightly damp skin.
- If your skin is dry, apply a very thin layer of petroleum jelly over the moisturizer to help seal in moisture.
You don’t need to mix Vaseline with lemon juice, baking soda, toothpaste, or other kitchen ingredients. Such mixtures can irritate the skin and potentially make signs of aging more noticeable.
For actual wrinkle reduction
Dermatologists recommend daily broad-spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen to help prevent premature skin aging. For existing fine lines and wrinkles, retinoids/retinol have much better evidence than DIY mixtures.
