Stroke: The First Symptoms You Should Never Ignore

Your summary is correct. One important addition is that stroke symptoms are usually sudden, and every minute matters.

🚨 Think B.E. F.A.S.T.

  • B — Balance: sudden dizziness, loss of balance, or difficulty walking
  • E — Eyes: sudden loss or change of vision
  • F — Face: one side of the face droops or feels numb
  • A — Arm: sudden weakness or numbness, especially on one side
  • S — Speech: slurred speech, difficulty speaking, or difficulty understanding
  • T — Time: seek emergency medical help immediately

A sudden severe headache without an obvious cause can also occur, particularly with other neurological symptoms.

Don’t wait—even if it gets better

Symptoms that disappear after a few minutes may be a transient ischemic attack (TIA). A TIA can be a warning of a more serious stroke and still requires urgent medical assessment.

If these symptoms are happening now, seek emergency care immediately and note the time the symptoms started. Do not drive yourself to the hospital.
