The claim “Put 2 drops in your ear and you will hear like before” is not supported by scientific evidence. There is no ear drop that can restore hearing loss from all causes.

When ear drops may help
- Earwax buildup: If hearing loss is caused by excess earwax, approved earwax-softening drops (or removal by a healthcare professional) may improve hearing.
- Certain outer ear infections: Prescription ear drops can treat bacterial infections, but they do not restore hearing caused by inner ear damage.
When ear drops will not help
Ear drops generally cannot reverse hearing loss caused by:
- Age-related hearing loss
- Noise-induced hearing damage
- Damage to the inner ear or hearing nerve

Avoid unproven remedies
Putting substances such as garlic oil, hydrogen peroxide, alcohol, essential oils, or homemade mixtures into your ear without medical advice can:
