A Smart Trick for Cleaning Between Oven Door Glass — But Use Caution

Cleaning the space between oven door glass panels is frustrating because grease and crumbs can get into areas that a normal sponge cannot reach. A flexible tool with a cloth attached can sometimes help reach those narrow gaps.

What you’ll need

  • Microfiber cloth
  • Rubber band or elastic
  • A thin, flexible tool (such as a purpose-made oven cleaning tool or a carefully prepared soft rod)
  • Glass cleaner or a mild degreasing solution

General method

  1. Check your oven manual first
    • Some oven doors are designed to be removed or opened for cleaning.
    • Others should not be disassembled because doing so can damage seals or insulation.
  2. Prepare the cleaning tool
    • Wrap a microfiber cloth securely around the end of a thin tool.
    • Make sure no sharp edges can scratch the glass.
  3. Clean gently
    • Slide the cloth carefully into the access gap (if your oven design allows it).
    • Wipe slowly to remove grease and dust.
    • Avoid forcing the tool, as it may damage internal parts.
  4. Dry and polish
    • Use a clean, dry microfiber cloth to remove streaks.

Important safety tips

  • Do not insert metal objects that can scratch or crack the glass.
  • Do not spray cleaner directly into gaps or vents unless the manufacturer allows it.
  • Never use harsh abrasives or excessive force.
