The claim “the most potent herb that destroys parasites, urinary tract and bladder infections, herpes, and flu viruses” is misleading. There is no single herb proven in humans to eradicate all four of these very different types of infections.
What the evidence actually says
- Parasites: Different parasites require different treatments. Some herbal compounds have antiparasitic activity in laboratory studies, but that doesn’t establish that an herb can safely cure a human parasitic infection.
- UTIs/bladder infections: Cranberry may modestly reduce the risk of recurrent UTIs in some women, but it isn’t recommended as treatment for an existing UTI.
- Herpes: There isn’t an herb proven to eradicate herpes viruses from the body. Antiviral medicines are used when treatment is needed.
- Flu: The NIH’s NCCIH states that no complementary health approach has been shown to prevent or treat influenza.
You may see oregano oil, garlic, elderberry, turmeric, wormwood or other herbs promoted for these purposes. Some have interesting laboratory findings
