Claims like “the most powerful herb that destroys parasites, urinary tract infections, bladder infections, herpes, and flu viruses” are usually exaggerated.
No herb has been proven to reliably cure all of those very different conditions. These conditions have different causes:
- Parasitic infections require specific antiparasitic treatments.
- Urinary tract infections (UTIs) and bladder infections are often caused by bacteria and may require antibiotics.
- Herpes is caused by a virus and is commonly treated with antiviral medications.
- Influenza (flu) is caused by influenza viruses and is managed with supportive care and, in some cases, antiviral drugs.
Some herbs and plant products have shown antimicrobial or antiviral activity in laboratory studies, including:
- Garlic
- Ginger
- Oregano
- Turmeric
However, laboratory findings do not necessarily mean these herbs can cure infections in people.
