What Is The Normal Blood Pressure For Each Age

There isn’t a separate “normal” blood-pressure number for every adult age. For adults, the same categories are generally used regardless of age. Current American Heart Association guidance defines normal adult blood pressure as below 120/80 mmHg. (professional.heart.org)

🩺 Blood pressure ranges

Reading Category
Below 120/80 ✅ Normal
120–129 / below 80 Elevated
130–139 or 80–89 Stage 1 hypertension
140+ or 90+ Stage 2 hypertension
Above 180 and/or 120 🚨 Severe; needs prompt medical attention

For children under 13, blood pressure is different: doctors interpret it according to the child’s age, sex, and height, rather than using the adult cutoffs. From age 13 onward, the adult categories are generally used. (AAP Publications)

Important: One unusual reading doesn’t necessarily mean you have hypertension. Blood pressure should generally be assessed using repeated, properly taken measurements.
