🍯🧄 Honey Garlic Chicken
Tender chicken coated in a sticky, sweet-and-savory honey-garlic sauce—quick enough for a weeknight dinner.
Ingredients
1½ lb (700 g) boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts
3 tbsp honey
4–5 cloves garlic, finely minced
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp rice vinegar or lemon juice
½ tsp black pepper
½ tsp paprika
1 tbsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water (optional, for a thicker sauce)
1 tbsp chopped parsley or green onions, for garnish
Sesame seeds, optional
Instructions
Prepare the chicken: Pat dry and cut into bite-sized pieces. Season with pepper and paprika.
Brown it: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken in a single layer and cook for about 4–5 minutes per side, until nicely browned and cooked through.
Make the sauce: Mix honey, soy sauce, garlic, and rice vinegar/lemon juice in a small bowl.
Combine: Reduce the heat to medium and pour the sauce over the chicken. Simmer for 2–3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Thicken: If you want a glossy, thicker sauce, stir the cornstarch and water together, add it to the skillet, and simmer for another 1–2 minutes.
Finish: Garnish with green onions, parsley, and sesame seeds.
🍚 Serve it with
Steamed rice, roasted broccoli, green beans, or noodles are excellent with the extra honey-garlic sauce.
Tip for especially tender chicken: Thighs are more forgiving than breasts. If using breast meat, avoid overcooking it and cook chicken to a safe internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
