Baking Soda for Very Dark Stains 🧺
Baking soda can help with odors, grease, and some light surface stains, but it isn’t a guaranteed bleach for deeply set or very dark stains.
A simple method
Mix 3 tablespoons of baking soda with a little water to make a thick paste.
Apply it gently to the stained area.
Leave it for 15–30 minutes.
Rinse or wash according to the garment’s care label.
Check the stain before putting the item in the dryer. Heat can set some stains permanently.
For stubborn white laundry
An oxygen-based laundry bleach can be more effective for many dark or yellowed stains than baking soda alone. Follow the product label and check that it’s safe for the fabric.
Avoid mixing baking soda with chlorine bleach or other cleaning chemicals. And always test a treatment on an inconspicuous area first, especially with colored or delicate fabrics.
