Bananas won’t spoil in just a few days; with this method,

If you want bananas to stay fresh longer, try this simple method:

  • Separate the bananas from the bunch and wrap the stem ends with plastic wrap or reusable wrap. This slows the release of ethylene gas, which speeds up ripening.
  • Keep them at room temperature until they reach the ripeness you like.
  • Once they are ripe, move them to the refrigerator. The peel may turn brown, but the inside usually stays good for several more days.
  • Keep bananas away from other ripening fruits like apples or avocados if you want them to last longer.

For very ripe bananas, peel and freeze them in slices for smoothies or baking.
