A 2-Ingredient Remedy for a Mucus-Filled Throat 🍯
If you have a mild cough or irritated throat, a simple honey-and-warm-water drink may provide some relief. It does not literally “clean” or detox the lungs, however.
Recipe
1 cup warm water
1–2 teaspoons honey
Mix and sip slowly, particularly before bedtime. Honey can help soothe coughing associated with some upper-respiratory infections.
Never give honey to a child younger than 1 year.
To help with mucus
Drink fluids regularly.
Avoid cigarette smoke and other irritants.
Use a humidifier if the air is dry.
For nasal mucus, saline nasal irrigation can sometimes help.
If mucus is caused by asthma, COPD, pneumonia, or another lung condition, this drink isn’t a substitute for prescribed treatment.
🚨 Seek medical attention for significant breathing difficulty, chest pain, coughing up blood, blue/gray lips, or a persistent/worsening fever.
Bottom line: Honey and warm water can soothe the throat and cough, but there is no two-ingredient recipe proven to flush mucus out of the lungs.
