Posts that begin with “If you have hip pain, it’s a clear sign that… see more” are often designed as clickbait. Hip pain is not a clear sign of any one condition.
Hip pain can have many causes, including:
- Muscle or tendon strain from exercise or overuse.
- Arthritis, especially in older adults.
- Bursitis, which is inflammation of a fluid-filled sac near the joint.
- Sciatica, where irritation of the sciatic nerve causes pain that can be felt in the hip or leg.
- Hip labral tears or other joint injuries.
- Fractures, particularly after a fall or in people with osteoporosis.
- Less commonly, infections or certain cancers.
Because the causes vary so much, hip pain alone cannot be used to predict a specific disease or how long someone has to live.
You should seek prompt medical care if hip pain:
- Follows a major injury or fall.
- Makes it impossible to bear weight on the leg.
- Is accompanied by fever, redness, or significant swelling.
- Comes with numbness, weakness, or loss of bladder or bowel control.
- Is severe, persistent, or getting worse despite rest.
If you can share the rest of the post (or a screenshot), I can help explain whether its claims are medically accurate.
