Mashed Potatoes

Mashed potatoes are a simple comfort food side dish. Here’s a classic, easy version:

🥔 Ingredients

  • 1 kg potatoes (Yukon Gold or any starchy potatoes)
  • 2–4 tbsp butter
  • ½ to 1 cup milk (warm)
  • Salt (to taste)
  • Black pepper (optional)

🍳 How to make them

  1. Peel and chop potatoes
Cut into evenly sized chunks so they cook evenly.
  2. Boil
Put in salted water and boil for about 15–20 minutes, until soft (fork goes through easily).
  3. Drain well
Let steam dry for 1–2 minutes so they don’t turn watery.
  4. Mash
Use a masher or fork until smooth or slightly chunky (your choice).
  5. Add butter + milk
Mix in butter first, then slowly add warm milk until creamy.
  6. Season
Add salt and pepper to taste.

🧠 Tips for best results

  • Warm milk = smoother texture
  • Don’t overmix or they can become gluey
  • For extra richness: add cream or a little garlic
  • For fluffier mash: use a potato ricer

If you want, I can give you:

  • restaurant-style creamy mashed potatoes
  • garlic parmesan version
  • or healthier low-calorie version 👍
