If you’re referring to the viral gardening headline “Never uproot this plant if it appears in your garden,” the plant is often presented as a supposedly beneficial “weed.” But the advice depends entirely on which plant it actually is.
Some plants commonly found in gardens can be useful—for example, clover can contribute nitrogen to soil, and dandelions can provide food for pollinators. Others can be invasive, toxic, or harmful to pets and should be removed.
