Claims like “THIS burns weeds in 1 day! They NEVER grow again” are almost always overstated.
Here’s what the evidence says:
- Vinegar-based sprays can burn the leaves of young weeds within hours to a day, but they usually do not kill the roots, so many perennial weeds grow back.
- Boiling water can quickly kill the above-ground parts of weeds, but regrowth is common unless the roots are destroyed.
- Herbicides can be more effective, but no product guarantees that weeds will “never grow again.” New weeds can sprout from seeds already in the soil or be carried in later by wind, animals, or people.
- Removing the roots, using mulch, maintaining healthy ground cover, or combining methods is generally more effective for long-term weed control than relying on a single spray.
The phrase “They NEVER grow again” is not realistic. Even after successful treatment, weed management typically requires ongoing maintenance because new seeds can germinate over time.
If you saw this in an ad or social media post, it’s best to be skeptical of the absolute claim. If you share the product or recipe it recommends, I can help evaluate whether it’s likely to work and what its limitations are.
