That’s a fear-based clickbait claim. Internal “cracks” in a watermelon are not automatically dangerous.
A watermelon (Watermelon) can develop a cracked or split-looking interior for several normal reasons:
🍉 Common harmless causes
- Uneven watering during growth (dry → heavy rain/irrigation)
- Overripeness, where the flesh starts to separate slightly
- Natural texture variation between varieties
- Heat stress while growing
In these cases, the fruit is often still safe to eat if it smells and tastes normal.
⚠️ When you SHOULD throw it away
Do not eat it if you notice:
- Sour, fermented, or alcoholic smell
- Slimy or mushy texture
- Visible mold (inside or outside)
- Watery leakage or dark decay spots
- Bitter or off taste
These are signs of spoilage, not just “cracks.”
