🌿 11 Ways to Get Your Peace Lily to Bloom

Peace lilies (Spathiphyllum) are relatively easy to care for, but light is one of the biggest factors determining whether they flower.

Give it bright, indirect light — a spot near an east- or north-facing window is often suitable.
Avoid deep shade — the plant may survive but produce mostly leaves.
Protect it from harsh direct sun — intense sunlight can scorch the leaves.
Water when the top layer of soil starts to dry — keep the root zone lightly moist, not constantly soggy.
Use a pot with drainage holes — standing water can damage the roots.
Feed during active growth — use a balanced houseplant fertilizer according to the label.
Don’t overfertilize — excess fertilizer can damage roots and doesn’t force flowering.
Keep temperatures comfortably warm — avoid cold drafts and sudden temperature changes.
Provide reasonable humidity — particularly if your indoor air is very dry.
Remove faded flowers and damaged leaves — cut spent flower stalks near their base with clean scissors.
Be patient — flowering depends on the plant’s variety, maturity, growing conditions and season. A healthy peace lily won’t necessarily bloom continuously.

There’s no reliable evidence that sugar water, milk, coffee, banana peels or baking soda will make a peace lily suddenly produce lots of flowers. These can instead cause problems with the soil or attract pests.

Best combination: bright indirect light + appropriate watering + good drainage + moderate feeding + patience. 🌱
