WARNING! THESE TABLETS CAN CAUSE BLOOD CLOTS, BLOOD THROMBOTS, AND HEART ATTACKS

WARNING: Some Tablets Can Increase the Risk of Blood Clots and Heart Attack

This claim is partly true, but it depends entirely on which tablets you’re talking about. You should never stop a prescribed medication simply because of a warning like this.

đź’Š One important example: NSAID painkillers

Some common nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), including ibuprofen, naproxen, diclofenac, and celecoxib, can increase the risk of serious cardiovascular events such as heart attack and stroke. The risk can occur relatively early in treatment and tends to be higher with greater doses and longer use.

The risk deserves particular attention in people who already have heart disease, high blood pressure, or other cardiovascular risk factors.

Don’t confuse these medicines with blood thinners

Aspirin is different. Low-dose aspirin is sometimes prescribed to prevent heart attacks and clot-related strokes because it reduces platelet clotting. However, aspirin can also cause serious bleeding and should not be started or stopped for cardiovascular prevention without medical advice.

🚨 Know the emergency symptoms

If you’re taking a medication with a cardiovascular warning and develop chest pressure or pain, shortness of breath, sudden weakness or numbness on one side, trouble speaking, or other sudden stroke-like symptoms, seek emergency medical attention immediately.
