My mom taught me this trick to diminish dark age spots on my hands in just 3 mins with 0 effort. Here’s how it works

Claims like “diminish dark age spots in just 3 minutes with 0 effort” are not supported by good evidence. Age spots (also called liver spots or solar lentigines) develop over years of sun exposure and cannot be meaningfully removed in a few minutes with a home remedy.

If you’re looking to fade age spots, these approaches have the best evidence:

  • Daily sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher): Prevents existing spots from darkening and helps stop new ones from forming.
  • Topical ingredients: Products containing retinoids, vitamin C, niacinamide, azelaic acid, or ingredients like kojic acid may gradually lighten pigmentation over weeks to months.
  • Dermatologist treatments: Chemical peels, laser therapy, intense pulsed light (IPL), and cryotherapy can be more effective for established age spots.

Many viral DIY remedies—such as lemon juice, baking soda, or undiluted vinegar—can irritate the skin and may even worsen pigmentation, especially after sun exposure.

If a spot is changing in size, shape, or color, has irregular borders, bleeds, or doesn’t heal, it should be evaluated by a healthcare professional to rule out skin cancer.

If your goal is simply to make your hands look brighter or more even-toned, I can also suggest a gentle skincare routine that’s safe to do at home.
