WARNING! THESE TABLETS CAN CAUSE BLOOD CLOTS, BLOOD THROMBOTS, AND HEART ATTACKS

“These Tablets Can Cause Blood Clots and Heart Attacks” — Which Tablets?

That headline is too vague to be safe. Some medications really do carry warnings about blood clots or cardiovascular events, but the risk depends heavily on the specific drug, dose, medical condition, and individual risk factors.

For example:

  • Certain JAK-inhibitor tablets—including tofacitinib (Xeljanz), baricitinib (Olumiant), and upadacitinib (Rinvoq)—carry FDA warnings about increased risks of serious cardiovascular events, blood clots and death in certain patients.
  • Non-aspirin NSAID painkillers, such as ibuprofen, naproxen, diclofenac and celecoxib, can increase the risk of heart attack or stroke, particularly with higher doses or longer use.
  • Some estrogen-containing hormone treatments can increase the risk of blood clots, stroke and heart attack in certain women.

🚨 Don’t stop a medication because of a viral headline

Stopping a prescribed medicine suddenly can itself be dangerous. The correct response is to determine which medication is actually being discussed and whether its risks apply to you.

If you send me the name of the tablets (or a photo of the article/medicine package), I can explain exactly what the blood-clot and heart-attack risk is, who is most vulnerable, and what warning symptoms to watch for.
