Did You Know? What It Means When a Lizard Visits Your House

Seeing a lizard inside your home can feel unusual, but it usually has a simple explanation. Lizards often enter houses because they are looking for food, warmth, water, or shelter.

If you notice a lizard indoors, it may mean there are insects nearby, such as flies, mosquitoes, or small moths. Lizards can actually help by eating some of these pests.

What can you do?

  • Keep doors and windows screened when possible.
  • Seal small gaps and cracks around the house.
  • Reduce insects by keeping food covered and areas clean.
  • Remove clutter where lizards may hide.
  • If needed, gently guide the lizard outside rather than handling it directly.

There is no scientific evidence that a lizard entering your home predicts good luck, bad luck, or future events.

Sometimes a lizard is simply looking for dinner!
