Honestly, does anyone here actually eat Brussels sprouts?

More people eat them than you’d think—Brussels sprouts went from “cafeteria punishment veggie” to a pretty trendy side dish in a lot of places.

The honest answer is: yes, but mostly when they’re cooked well.

Raw or boiled Brussels sprouts tend to get a bad reputation because they can taste bitter and sulfur-heavy. But roasted, they’re a different story—crispy edges, slightly sweet, nutty flavor. That’s why you now see them everywhere on restaurant menus.

Brussels sprouts are especially popular when:

  • Roasted with olive oil, salt, and pepper
  • Tossed with garlic or chili flakes
  • Caramelized with balsamic glaze or honey
  • Mixed with bacon or parmesan

A lot of the “I hate Brussels sprouts” crowd has actually only tried them boiled or overcooked. Once they’re roasted properly, many people switch sides.

That said, not everyone loves them even then—bitterness sensitivity is real, and some people just never warm up to cruciferous veggies.

So yes: people do eat them, and plenty even enjoy them now. They just had a PR problem for a long time.
