How to tighten loose neck skin without surgery
If you’re noticing sagging or “crepey” skin on your neck, there are nonsurgical options, but it’s important to set realistic expectations. Creams and home remedies cannot produce a facelift-like lift. The American Academy of Dermatology says skin-firming creams generally provide subtle results at best.

1. ☀️ Protect your neck from the sun
Use a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher on the neck every day you’re exposed to daylight. UV exposure contributes to collagen breakdown, wrinkles and loose skin.

2. Retinol may help a little
A topical retinol/retinoid can stimulate collagen production and improve fine lines and skin texture. Start gradually because irritation is common, and use sun protection during the day.

Don’t expect retinol to physically pull significantly sagging skin upward.
3. Moisturize regularly
A good moisturizer can temporarily make fine lines and crepey skin look less noticeable by increasing skin hydration. It won’t remove substantial loose skin.

4. Consider professional nonsurgical tightening
For mild to moderate laxity, dermatologists may use treatments such as:
Radiofrequency
Microfocused ultrasound
Certain laser treatments
Radiofrequency combined with microneedling
These work by delivering energy into the skin and stimulating collagen remodeling. Results develop gradually rather than overnight.

What about neck exercises?
Neck exercises can strengthen underlying muscles, but there isn’t good evidence that exercises can significantly tighten loose skin itself. Be cautious with aggressive “neck-slimming” routines or devices that promise dramatic results.
The important distinction
If you have a small amount of loose skin, nonsurgical treatments may provide a noticeable improvement. If there’s a large amount of hanging skin, nonsurgical procedures generally can’t reproduce the result of a surgical neck lift.

Best starting routine: daily SPF 30+, moisturizer, and—if appropriate for your skin—a gentle retinol at night. If the laxity bothers you substantially, a board-certified dermatologist can determine whether ultrasound, radiofrequency, laser treatment, or another option is appropriate.
